SELF-REPORTED INDICATORS

Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

EQUITABLE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

English Language Development Achievement

We continue implementing our successful approach to English Language Development (ELD) and dedicate ample time and attention to effectively serve the needs of our English Language Learners (ELL). During our most recent end-of-year language development (WIDA) testing in spring 2019, approximately 55% of our ELL students made the desired increase for the year – this is equivalent to our achievement during the previous year in 2018.


INSTRUCTIONAL FACTORS

Social Emotional Learning

After experiencing positive outcomes from last year, we continue conducting Character Counts (a social and emotional skills program). We focus on one character trait for 4-6 weeks. Students can earn tickets for exhibiting that trait, and then we reward students for earning tickets on a weekly basis. Additionally we continue implementing Inner Explorer (an online mindfulness program). These two complimentary programs foster students' awareness of themselves, their emotions, and their environment. The programs also help students become more responsible for their own attitudes and behaviors.
