Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

Increase efforts to serve ELL students.

Bonneville Elementary implemented English language learner (ELL) services for identified students (typically 10-20 per year). We have an English Language Development (ELD) teacher who meets with ELL students every day for 45-minute sessions. Our ELD teacher utilizes the curriculum from Wonders to teach, monitor, and assess our students. Based on assessments in Wonders and reports from our ELD teacher, students are showing growth in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Bonneville Elementary also assessed students by administering the WIDA assessment to every student classified as ELL. One indicator of success will be growth on the WIDA assessment from the previous year.

Arts and Science Instruction for All Students

Bonneville Elementary has implemented arts and science into our daily curriculum by hiring a certified teacher to teach science for all grades. Bonneville also works with Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program by providing one art teacher for grades 3-6 and our community helps to support an additional art teacher for grades K-2. Our arts and science programs are utilized to address the whole child by providing unique learning opportunities and hands-on experiences. Our sixth-grade team worked closely with our science teacher to increase SAGE science median growth scores. In 2017-2018 sixth grade was at 68% proficient in science and utilizing our science teacher sixth grade increased their science proficiency to 70% in 2017-2018. Our school community has raised funds to pay for our arts and science teachers. Bonneville has been able to raise the funds to maintain their positions and they are supported by our faculty, staff and community.
