Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

Anti-bullying Program

With the hiring of a full-time counselor, an anti-bullying program is being implemented. The school counselor is working with parent volunteers, using the Project Cornerstone program. In conjunction with the program, the school counselor did an initial bully prevention lesson in September based on the Second Step Curriculum. Project Cornerstone is a program that is run monthly in all grades at the classroom level. Lessons are based off of a book that demonstrates a social-emotional narrative. Students are encouraged to process the book through hand-on activities, group discussion and explicit instruction.

Equity in Arts and Science Instruction

Bonneville Elementary continues to build the arts and science into our daily curriculum. All students attend class with our science teacher. Our science teacher works closely with the classroom teachers to provide science lessons and investigations that meet the State Core Curriculum. This added support in science will allow our teachers to seamlessly transition to the Next Generation Science Standards. Our School Community Council, through the Land Trust Program, has designated a portion of this grant to provide an equitable performing arts experience for all our students. This translates into music instruction for grades 2-6. Our Kindergarten and first graders participate in the "Tanner Dance Arts in Education program." Bonneville also works with "The Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program" to provide an art teacher for grades K-2 and 3-6. Our arts and science programs have been developed to address the whole child by providing unique learning opportunities and hands-on experiences. The Bonneville School Community has supported our efforts to connect both Salt Lake School District and the community programs that support our commitment to education in the arts and sciences for all Bonneville students.
