Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

Indicator 1

Domain: "Instructional Factors"

Title: "Social Emotional Learning"

Description: Beacon Heights Elementary is a "Mindfulness" school. Our teachers implement social emotional learning activities 2-3 times per week in an effort to give students skills to self-regulate, manage stress, and maintain positive mental health.

Indicator 2

Title: "Beacon Heights is a STEAM school"

Description: Beacon Heights Elementary prides itself on intentional and integrated instruction in STEAM--Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. We have placed a strong emphasis on the arts, adding it to the traditional STEM focus. Students in all grades are exposed to visual arts, theater, and vocals. In grades 4-6 they are given the option of participating in the orchestra, choir, or band. Performances for parents are conducted throughout the school year.
