EQUITABLE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Early College: Concurrent Enrollment Opportunities

Bingham High is committed to partnering with our regional institution of higher education to provide early college experiences for motivated and academically prepared high school students. Concurrent Enrollment (CE) courses offered at Bingham High School help to prepare high school students with academic skills and experiences that will help them more easily transition to college after their high school experience ends. Concurrent Enrollment courses are self-select to those students who meet the college entry level requirements and we offer multiple sections of highly desired courses. All students receive CE information in their guidance meetings with counselors. When hiring faculty, preferences are given to those applicants with teaching licenses and who also hold credentials which qualify them as adjunct professors with the regional college partner. 2017-2018 Concurrent Enrollment Students at Bingham Total 664 2017-2018 Concurrent Enrollment Credits Earned Total 4840 2016-2017 Concurrent Enrollment Students at Bingham Total 664 2016-2017 Concurrent Enrollment Credits Earned Total 3920 Bingham High will continue to foster our relationship with higher education as we both seek to provide a rich Concurrent Enrollment program for all students.

STUDENT FACTORS

Early College: Students Perform Well on AP Exams

Bingham High values the rigor and college preparation that the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer our students. We offer a robust selection of courses and exams. Access to all of our AP courses is student self-select and we offer multiple sections of highly desired courses. All students receive AP course information in their guidance meetings with counselors. Students enrolled in AP courses experience growth in academic skills (i.e. study, writing) and content knowledge. We support teacher attendance at AP workshops and conferences by paying for registration and conference fees. We have several teachers who serve on AP committees and who serve as AP readers. We offer teachers professional leave to attend these enrichment experiences as they often help teachers have a better understanding of how to assist their students in learning the curriculum and navigating the AP assessments successfully. 2018 Bingham High offered courses and exams in 23 AP subjects 2018 Bingham High gave a total of 763 exams to 531 students 2018 Total AP students with scores 3+ was 81.7% 2017 Bingham High offered courses and exams in 24 AP subjects 2017 Bingham High gave a total of 759 exams to 525 students 2017 Total AP students with scores 3+ was 75.2% Bingham High is committed to continuing our Advanced Placement program as a means of providing access to high quality academic experiences and college preparation opportunities for all students.
