POLARIS HIGH SCHOOL

SELF-REPORTED INDICATORS

Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

SCHOOL-LEVEL FACTORS

Graduation Improvement & Connections Being Made

The Polaris High School report card does not fully reflect the excellent work happening at our school. The metrics that are used to grade our school have not always shown the amount of growth our students achieve in the short time they are with us. One example of the amount of progress our students make can be seen in looking at our graduation rate. Only 20% of students at Polaris are on track for graduation at the time of enrollment, yet 74% of our students earn their diploma before their cohort leaves our school. In addition, not only are 74% of our students graduating, on average (over the last three years) 57% of those graduates are graduating early. Entering Polaris credit deficient and graduating early; that should be counted as great progress! Polaris High teachers and staff feel that they are obtaining this graduation rate by making connections and teaching the ROOTS values with the students. ROOTS Values are · R = Respect for self & others · O = Obstacles are opportunities · O = Own your own actions · T = Think Forward · S = Stay Kind
