WEST HAVEN SCHOOL

SELF-REPORTED INDICATORS

Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

STUDENT FACTORS

Excellent School Climate and Culture

West Haven Elementary administers school climate surveys through Panorama Education and the Leader In Me program each school year. The Panorama Education survey is given to students in 3rd-5th and 6th grades. The results of these surveys indicate that West Haven Elementary 3rd-5th graders rank in the 90th percentile nationally for favorable "Teacher-Student Relationships" and "Sense of Belonging". West Haven scored above 70 and showed growth on almost every measure of the Leader In Me survey. We also had a 9% increase in the areas of "Supportive Student Environment", " Empowered Learners", and "Goal Achievement".

SCHOOL-LEVEL FACTORS

STEM Focus and After School Activities

West Haven Elementary offers students many opportunities for STEM focused learning. Each week students attend a Makerspace class focused on creating, building and problem solving as a team. West Haven is one of 12 schools in the state of Utah to be chosen to partner with Green Our Planet and Western Alliance Bank to bring Hydroponics Systems to all K-6 students through a STEM Action Center grant. West Haven was recognized as, and currently holds the title of STEM Fair Elementary School of the Year in Weber School District. Students have the opportunity to participate in both school level and community after school activities such as Vex Robotics, Choir, Band (Riverton Music), and Orchestra (Riverton Music).
