UTAH INTERNATIONAL CHARTER SCHOOL

SELF-REPORTED INDICATORS

Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

INSTRUCTIONAL FACTORS

Growth in English Language

We compare each student's performance on the WIDA ACCESS test of English acquisition to his or her performance the previous year to measure growth. We compare the average growth of our students to the average growth of multilingual learners across the nation.

INSTRUCTIONAL FACTORS

Growth in Student Reading Ability

Students take the HMH Reading Inventory every four months to track improvement in English reading skills. Students just beginning to read in English take the phonics test (shown in red), with a maximum score of 84. Students reading above a first-grade level take the comprehension test, with a maximum score of about 1600. Both charts indicate the CHANGE in score from one administration to the next.
