SAGE HILLS SCHOOL

SELF-REPORTED INDICATORS

Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

EQUITABLE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Systematic Response To Intervention Protocols

Our school has defined our intervention, data collection, and referral process for students not meeting their potential and are making more efforts to be clinical about this process. We have multi-tiered systems of support for students and have thought through some of the processes we will follow as a school when a student is not meeting their potential. Since implementation, we have developed effective supports through coaching, tier 1 instructional improvement, grade level teaming, small group supports, aide supports, and special education and 504 plan supports. We are thinking creatively to help students connect their interests and passions with areas of improvement and are helping families get in touch with the knowledge and support they need as well. INSTRUCTIONAL FACTORS

Deep Learning Partnership

We have connected and collaborated with a global partnership, New Pedagogies of Deep Learning, along with 8 other schools in our district. This is in alignment with our district''s vision for learning to help students master essential knowledge, skills, and dispositions. Every month our teams have a half day to extend their collaboration and planning to design deep learning units within the framework of a pathways rubric. The deep learning is designed to engage students interests and passions, develop empathy for others, support the curriculum through integrated design, and help students develop into the global competencies (the 6 C''s) of character, citizenship, communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. We are also pioneering efforts to have students reflect on their progressions through these global competencies. This will allow us to understand the impact of this lesson design and allow us to find ways to improve. Some of the evidence of these deep learning units can be found in our twitter feed here: https://twitter.com/sagethunderhawk Our mission, values, vision, and goals related to this work can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KRF4MyW2EkrtHCeXIiy0MtE-VHodYo4TdtCdxJ0nKdM/edit?usp=sharing
