Domain: "Equitable Educational Opportunities"

Title: "Comprehensive Guidance & Counseling Program Review"


Description: In 2019-2020, the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts went through their first Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling New Program Review with the Utah State Board of Education. The USBE summary of strengths is as follows: * Strong support from administration and district leadership that allows for effective implementation of the school counseling program. * The school utilizes disaggregated data from multiple sources, to identify access, attainment, and achievement gaps, and implements intentional interventions to address targeted needs. * Collaborative partnerships are well established to increase student supports. (i.e. community resources, post-secondary institutions, advocacy groups, etc.)

Domain: "School-Level Factors"

Title: "AdvancED Accreditation 2018 "


Description: In 2018, the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts went through the accreditation process with AdvancED. An Excerpt from the accreditation review team’s narrative of the school’s performance has been included here: Salt Lake School of the Performing Arts has created a successful performing arts environment that develops students into talented and qualified performers in whichever area they want to focus. The school’s administration and governing board have brought in experienced arts professionals that give students current curriculum and performance opportunities. The camaraderie, the respect, and the kindness of staff, faculty, administration, parents, and students was a high point of the Review Team''s findings. This is a result of the combined efforts of the Governing Board, Parents, Administration, and Staff helping to craft a vision for this school, consistently reinforcing what the mission is, and ensuring that all are involved in maintaining this a driving force in student performance and student success. From observations and interviews, students have expressed their gratitude for the support and help of qualified teachers, staff, and administrators. The Engagement Review Team would like to commend Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts in their effort in providing the best educational experience for their students.
